What will i learn in my guitar lessons?
This is one of the most commonly asked questions we get from new music students. The answer actually depends on you. What do you want to learn? Our teachers make it a priority to get to know you on a personal level and to become familiar with your personal musical needs and goals. We do not treat every student the same in terms of what and how we teach.
When you signed up for lessons you already had an idea of the kind of music you wanted to play. Although it’s important to learn the basics like how to hold the guitar, good finger technique, etc. it’s equally important to play music that inspires you! This is what you will learn in your guitar lessons! If you are into rock, great! Prefer jazz, no problem! The thing that matters is that you are able to use the music you love in your lessons.
Here at Brampton School of Music we know that every students is an individual. We won’t put you in the same “Guitar student box” as every other student.
If you enrol here for lessons, we will work with you to make a plan that will fit your needs and musical preferences. At the first guitar lesson your teacher will ask you about your favourite type of music, and set goals to help accomplish whatever musical aspirations you have for yourself or your child.
Not sure what kind of music you want in your guitar lessons?
Young guitar students often begin without knowing what they want to learn. They just know that playing the guitar looks fun and they want to give it a try. That great! Our Brampton guitar teachers know exactly what to do with young beginners. Most will start in a guitar method book that introduces the fundamentals is an easy to follow plan while gradually introducing new guitar styles to the student. Beginner guitar students will explore a wide variety of music to help them figure out what they like.
What styles of guitar do you teach?
We teach all styles from classical to rock, pop, jazz, country, blues, and folk.
Are your guitar instructors qualified?
Our guitar teachers have received their education from prestigious institutions such as York University, Western University, Humber College, Mohawk College, and the University of Toronto. Many of our instructors have gone on performance tours of Canada and the US, and have over 25 years of professional guitar performance and teaching experience. In addition to their teaching credentials, our guitar teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly and strive to get to know each student and their parent on a personal level.
